What is the lifespan of an Information System for a large organisation?

How long would an Information System in a largish organization last before it is updated/replaced. Would one that is ten years old now be redundant? Would it be a legacy system, did they have enterprise systems ten years ago?

Thanks a lot. What is the lifespan of an Information System for a large organisation?Typically about 3 years is the normal refresh rate. Yes if its 10 years old it would be classed as legacy and yes enterprise class solutions have been around more than 10 years.

Hope this helps.
