Where can I find information on shipping a dog overseas?

I sell Maltese puppies and a lady from Denmark has contacted me and is very interested in the puppy, but I don't know about shipping overseas. I have shipped all over the US with no problems; but most of the time the pups are only on the plane for 2 hours at a time. I am not too crazy about sending my baby half way around the world without knowing how his is done. I need information please.Where can I find information on shipping a dog overseas? The website linked below has lots of information. But also, you shouldn't feel pressured to ship overseas if you're not comfortable with it. Lots of pets get lost, injured, and killed while traveling. Why can't she find a dog that's closer to where she lives?Where can I find information on shipping a dog overseas?
Many countries have quarantine laws (The UK has a 6 month quarantine.). Check with your breed's association and AKC http://www.akc.org/sitesearch/index.cfm and see if they have various locations near you to assist you in this matter. We brought back a Minature Schnauzer back in the late 1950's from Germany and the import laws were not as strict as they are today and she wasn't a small puppy (About 15 mos old if I remember my time frame right.). Also get a list of any shots the pup might need going there that it wouldn't need here in the U.S.

I found some helpful suggestions on http://dogtime.com/travel.html as to aclimating your pup before sending him on this journey.

Rosi MWhere can I find information on shipping a dog overseas? You can't just ship living creatures to other countries like that. There are customs laws that make such things very difficult to do. That's why people can't take their pets on vacations overseas with them.

The dog would have to go into quarantine for six months before the woman could take the pup home.

Don't do it. Find the pup a home here.

First, you would want to find out about their quarantine laws in that country. Some countries will require a pet to be quarantined for 6 months or more before they can be released.

You can contact airline companies for assistance with the industry regulations and guidelines - such as forms, approved shipping crates, etc....

There is also pet relocation services that handle all of the details. One that I ran across was www.Jetpets.com.

You can also try the Independent Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA) at www.ipata.com.

I found a lot of this information by doing a search on google and this website - http://www.transitionsabroad.com/publica鈥?/a>

Another thing to keep in mind is costs. They mentioned on this website that it cost them $5500 for relocation services, etc..... - which would not be feasible in trying to sell a pet. I would also look in some of the local dog magazines, like Dog World, etc... and contact some of the breeders that say they ship worldwide or they have stock from other countries. They may be able to provide you with names of services, discount costs, and ideas that someone not in the industry would not know.

Good luck.

Or simply tell the woman you don't ship overseas...
If I were you, I wouldn't ship overseas at all. I'm sure you can find another buyer in the US.Where can I find information on shipping a dog overseas?
contact an airline.
Contact airlines and cargo ships that carry animals.

Why can't she get a dog in her area? I don't like when someone says they'll ship overseas. Too many scams. It's not a good idea. On top of health certificates and other stuff you need to have prior to shipping the puppy, there is an isolation time of minimum 30 day up to 120 days before she could claim the dog when they are shipped from another country.Where can I find information on shipping a dog overseas?
Write to Danish embassy and contact various carriers.

The main Q? should be about Quarantine and handling. Proper cage, and have to be in passenger compartment cost is same as full seat ticket, for two dog and the handler.

FedEx office, other carrier, and the carriers that you are using for USA will give you some Idea, if they have a flight to Denmark.

Dennis lady may know that also, ask her to take charge from your place.
Try thinking about the dog!!!!! This is a tiny puppy. It lives and breathes and has feelings. Find a home nearby. Money isnt everything!!!!

I honestly think it is very cruel to take a puppy away from its mother and have it travelling for miles on its own, even a two hour flight is a long time as its in the cage for a lot longer than that.
Do you really need the money that much that you would ship overseas even though your not comfortable doing it? Not to mention it is very expensive and one could purchase one in there own country cheaper so why is it that they would pay all this extra money to have it shipped?
contact an airline or go to a fedex air or ups air store and ask.
You can ask any airline that allows that and they will tell you and also your vet might have some info on it but i think the best bet is to ask an airline.
try asking dogpound.
