How do i find information on stolen recorders?

I found a recorder that has no maker's mark. Just the number 183 on each of the 3 joints. The recorder is made of a dark brown wood, a little lighter than grenadilla. The mouthpiece seems to be handmade at the beak. Any information is welcome. How do i find information on stolen recorders?I suggest that you contact any place in your area that might have professional musicians: public/private schools, universities, orchestras, etc., and also check with the local police to see if anything like that has been reported stolen.

This is only a guess, since I've seen only the cheapo recorders they sometimes use in elementary school beginning music classes, but: Since this doesn't have a maker's mark and may not be a high-end instrument, could it be an instrument from a local high school/middle school? Maybe it is used as a "loaner" for band or classes and a student lost it.How do i find information on stolen recorders?
To thwart shoplifters, often, the recorder will have a sticky inventory mark under it....looks like a small rectangle. It is now used inside DVD tapes to thwart pirated DVD tapes.

You could also find the barcode under it, that would be very difficult to pull off....but not in all cases. How do i find information on stolen recorders?Where did you find the recorder? If it's not yours and you have no idea who it belongs to, why would you pick it up? And if you assumed it was stolen, why haven't you turned it into the police station or taken out an add in a local newspaper? How do i find information on stolen recorders?
Obviously take it to the authorities (city or campus police, administration, music department head) near where you found the instrument.

... it may or may not be valuable, or have sentimental to the owner. How do i find information on stolen recorders?Counter questions - what recorders do you mean?
