How do I get information regarding a pending court case?

What is the easiest way to find information about a current criminal case? The live-in daughter of my ex has been arrested for child abuse.

Some state courts have case information available online, but not many. Usually only the basic information is available. If you go to the clerk's office, you will be able to access all the public parts of the record. Some or all the file may be impounded and so not available except to the parties and their lawyers.

Call the court and ask if they have an online availability of a particular case, and then ask for the case number. They should be able to tell you the URL you would need to go to, as well.
