Where can I find information on requirements to be a teacher in the 1930s?

I am working on a story about a young woman living in rural Michigan in the 1930s. I am thinking of having her be a teacher, but I want to be sure that I hve her at the right age for this. I've been looking for information on what type of schooling she would have needed to teach in the '30s. Contact your local state college (or one you know was a teacher's college) and ask if they have any information. They probably have someone (probably a librarian) who is an archivist for the school, and will be able to find that information.
