Where can I find information on animal euthanization in Canada?

I am doing a persuasive speech to a Canadian audience on why people should adopt pets instead of purchase them. I am having difficulty in finding statistical data on how many animals are euthanized each year in Canada, as well as laws regarding euthanasia in Canada.

Does anyone know a good site where I can find this information? Any links you can provide me with would be appreciated.Where can I find information on animal euthanization in Canada?Contact your local animal services or SPCA. The phone number should be in your telephone book or easily accessed online.

I'm not sure where you live so I can't give you a website.

When doing an essay or speech it's always good to have information on your area. Call up the SPCA and they will tell you how many animals are put to sleep every year. in my area they estimate 8 thousand dogs were put down last year. I forget the number of cats but 8 thousand dogs and puppies is a lot.
