What's the best and easier way of retaining information for a long time---example: keeping material fresh for the MCAT in 4 years? What is the best way to RETAIN information for a VERY LONG TIME?The best way to retain information for a very long time is to use as many of the learning senses as possible. Sight, touch (tactile), speech and hearing are the ways most people learn, usually they focus on just one. So you should make sure that you see, do, say, and look at (read) as much of the information as possible. You may also what to get a 'doodle book' for any lectures you may have as doodling is one of the best ways to remember information if you are not a good note-taker. When you doodle you are able to later look at the doodle and then you brain is able to connect what you heard to what you drew - this was one of the best way I made it through college. If you are having to remember information for a long time you may want to keep some of the information in your car of in your backpack and look at it periodically refresh and memorize the information that you will need for your test. Anytime that you are able to touch, do, or experiment with the information that you are trying to remember it will help you immensely and allow your brain to react and logically process the information making it easier to remember and retain.
