Black belt magazine had an article on this several years ago and how there was a trip that you could book to go and train in China there with them for three weeks. I don't know if this is still available but I would think that it is since they now have a group that tours all over the world and gives demonstrations every other year I believe. " I am looking for information on John Smith of Holland, Michigan. John was born October 11, 1913 in Holland, Michigan and was married to Geneva Jones on October 12, 1937 also in Holland. He died on July 1, 2000. They had six children named. Abraham, Benjamin, Charles, Daniel, Edward and Franklin. I would really like to find out who John's parents are.



As you can see, a good query has



1) the persons name

2) all of the biographical information you know to date and

3) asks a specific question



The reason it is so specific is because people won't waste your time and theirs telling you what you already know. Also, by providing ALL of your known information (for example, the childrens names) it gives people alternate people to research to help arrive at your answer.

Using information as ammunition in this case seems to merely be adding fuel to a fire .. If the landlord is not willing to accept your clients mental illness as justification for wanting or needing a pet companion, perhaps the landlord (any thier inability to have an open mind) is the real issue ..

From the perspective of the landlord there are many reasons to require a fee.. pets can be noisy, destructive, stinky and on and on.. and no amount of information made available to the landlord will change those facts.

It is perfectly legal for the landlord to require or demand a pet-fee as long as it is written into the contract at the signing of a leasing or rental agreement.

As for circumstances that arise after the date of initial signing .. that contingency is a matter that can only be mutually resolved by both sides coming together with an agreement that suits both sides .. If the landlord is not willing to bend in the matter. The options would be for the tenant to get the pet and (possibly) be evicted, and take their chances for filing a claim for wrongful eviction... Or, perhaps, in time the landlord will understand that there is no threat in having the pet around. Not really a chance worth taking, right?

Communication is the key to solving the problem. See if the tenant can speak with the landlord and find a fair compromise. Maybe the solution will be a poodle instead of a labrador.. or a goldfish instead of a housecat.

They will be able to help you with regard to a death notice, from there you should be able to obtain an obituary notice and from there you may be able to apply for death, birth and marriage records, in some places, you will have to reference the Right to Know act and be a direct descendant of the person before they will give you any info and provide a copy of your ID. Also, try the state genealogy project website, you can get a lot of info there and from Historical Societies as well, you would be surprised at the information they have.

Edit: a note on census - most of the census records have lots of spelling errors, while the census takers could read and write, a lot of them couldn't spell, also illiteracy was a big problem in the early 1900's, and more people than you would think, did not know how to spell there last names. It took me over 2 years of searching for my GM in the 1930 census, to find her, and her mother in 1920 (her name was misspelled as Ricky - it was really Ritchey, I found it under her married sister and brother-in-law's names! Make sure you try lots and lots of different spellings, even in the same census and same household, (ie siblings).

How can you get information off a computer that has no power source?Simplest solution would be to buy/burrow a replacement for the broken charger (no need for new laptop that way), then if you still want to transfer files, use a USB key or email them. If that option does not work for you, there are alternatives.



All your information is stored on a device called the Hard Disk Drive (also hard drive, hdd). You can take the hard drive out of your broken laptop and use it as an external hard drive with an external usb enclosure. Here is one such enclosure:

If you've never done this before, I would recommend asking someone who has experience because:

- it could be difficult to locate the hard drive bay on your computer

- there is usually a special way to take out the hard drive

- there are at least 2 types of hard drives used in laptops (IDE and SATA) and you will need to get the enclosure designed for either one (they won't work with wrong enclosure)



Assuming that you've found a way and transferred your hard drive from the old laptop into the hard drive enclosure and connected it to the new computer, the rest is simple. Once connected and turned on, your new external hard drive should show up as a new drive in my computer and you should be able to browse it and copy files as you like.

I would agree with your hybrid bike if you plan on some minor off road riding. All of the bikes will work on the streets, but If you have friends that do pure off road riding then the mtn bike would be a better choice for you. If your riding friends all ride on the road then a road bike would be better for you. Let your riding place and ride partners determine your bike choice.



The type of bike decided, then the purchase process (the fun part) begins ....



Go to a bike shop, have them help to size your bike and familiarize you with their merchandise and test ride a bike (or two). Then go to another bike shop.... repeat the process. Repeat the process until you feel comfortable with the bike frames, size, and components your prefer. Bike frame materials make a tremendous difference in your riding experience. Aluminum, steel, and carbon all have different ride qualities; so give them all a try. Trek, Specialized and Giant are among my favorite large scale manufacturers.... but all quality bikes will have almost identical components in the same price range. Pick up a Road or Mountain bike magazine and check out all the quality choices!



Armed with the knowledge of type, quality, size and price you can make the choice of buying new or used. If price is no object, knock yourself out. If price and desire is an issue, then a used bike can be a perfect match.... but, it does slow the process to locate the right used bike at the right price. In your haste to ride, do not sacrifice the correct size! Good sources for used bikes are classifieds, Craig's List, and my favorite- Ebay. Test ride the used bike and even take it to a local bike shop for an inspection. I have bought several bikes on Ebay, looking at the sellers rating, I have never had a problem. But I knew exactly, the makes, models, and size of bike I wanted. High quality low milage bikes at 1/3 of the bikes original cost (or less).

The computer has just had windows xp installed and there is no sound drives for the audio. I guess you'd need to find out what motherboard you are using to download the correct driver where do you find this Information?

The computer in question is not on the internet so it will have to be done manually from a download from my computer...I am on the right track or not?

It takes 2 minutes to download, and another 2 to run. It will inventory your computer and tell you EVERYTHING ... all hardware connected, every program installed on it, even which Windows updates you have and need.



It will tell you the model number of your motherborad AND which onboard sound chipset you have. After that,l it's just a matter of going to the manufacturer's website or googling "your sound thingy"+driver+"(your operating system)" and downloading the driver.

If the computer is a "brand name" (such as Dell, HP, Accer, etc) and not a home made computer, then you will not be able to download drivers based on the mother board. Each of the major companies customizes their board so that the generic drivers may not work.



Instead go to the web site of the PC maker, go to their Driver/Download/Support section (varies by PC maker) and look up your computer make and model (not the system board model). You will find the correct drivers for your PC there.

Does anyone have any information on organic tattoo ink?

I am planning to get a tattoo in the very near future and after doing a little research, I've learned that a lot of tattoo ink can contain toxic chemicals. There is no way of finding out what the ingredients are since the companies do not need to disclose this information.



Normally, the ingredients of tattoo inks would not be a concern; however, I am [what some people would call me] a "health-nut/tree hugger" and do not want to put anything in or on my body which could pose a hazardous risk.



So far, the only companies I've found that use organic ingredients are Starbrite, Eternal and Stable. Does this mean these companies use natural, earth-based ingredients? Or do they still use some of the same ingredients the other companies use?

I am a student and use my bike to ride to campus, but I'd like to do some more recreational and long term riding. I was looking at road bikes, and I read about hybrid bikes (which seemed like a good choice because they could go on road and trail). Stay far away from Walmart and other department store bikes. Fit is very important.



Google " bike shops + your zip " to find all of the local bike shops in your area.



Visit those shops and talk with them they will have road and hybrid bikes in a wide price range to fit you budget. It will give you an idea of what you want to look for.



Don't worry about brand they will all be very close at the same price range. I would agree with your hybrid bike if you plan on some minor off road riding. All of the bikes will work on the streets, but If you have friends that do pure off road riding then the mtn bike would be a better choice for you. We all dream of what we might do, and where we might ride, but you have a mtn bike now, Do you ever ride off road? If your riding friends all ride on the road then a road bike would be better for you. Let your riding place and ride partners determine your bike choice.



The type of bike decided, then the purchase process (the fun part) begins ....



Go to a bike shop, have them help to size your bike and familiarize you with their merchandise and test ride a bike (or two). Then go to another bike shop.... repeat the process. Repeat the process until you feel comfortable with the bike frames, size, and components your prefer. Bike frame materials make a tremendous difference in your riding experience. Aluminum, steel, and carbon all have different ride qualities; so give them all a try. Trek, Specialized and Giant are among my favorite large scale manufacturers.... but all quality bikes will have almost identical components in the same price range. Pick up a Road or Mountain bike magazine and check out all the quality choices!



Armed with the knowledge of type, quality, size and price you can make the choice of buying new or used. If price is no object, knock yourself out. If price and desire is an issue, then a used bike can be a perfect match.... but, it does slow the process to locate the right used bike at the right price. In your haste to ride, do not sacrifice the correct size! Good sources for used bikes are classifieds, Craig's List, and my favorite- Ebay. Test ride the used bike and even take it to a local bike shop for an inspection. I have bought several bikes on Ebay, looking at the sellers rating, I have never had a problem. But I knew exactly, the makes, models, and size of bike I wanted. High quality low milage bikes at 1/3 of the bikes original cost (or less).



I hope this helps... knowledge and research is key, do not buy on impulse.
